Needham Market Football Club have announced the signing of midfield player Michael Steward. The player was formerly a stalwart of neighbours Bury Town and a member of that club’s championship winning side, Michael joins the club on non-contract terms.
Needham Market General Manager Andy Gould commented “Michael is a player who is well known to the manager and many of the players, he will bring great deal of experience to the club and enhance the squad as we look to cement our position at the top of Ryman League Division One North.”
Coincidence ?

I used to have the greatets of respect for Stewie, but his timing leaves a lot to be desired, when the team is struggling to get players fit enough to play, to leave with the excuss he wants a rest then almost within hours of leaving signs for another club, where is his TEAM SPIRIT?

I would point out that the ( within hours) comment in the previous post is completely inaccurate as it was 2 weeks before stewie signed for needham. Bury appeared quite happy for him to leave at the time, it is only since they started getting some injury and availability problems that they seem to be regretting it!

Country blue- you are forgetting that the comment was made by a well known WUM, don't rise to it and ignore him and he normally goes away

watched needham fc on saturday afternoon as the bury game was away,,how sad it was to hear a well known vocal',come on you blues' bury town supporter call a fantastic Bury town player for many years a JUDAS what an absolute disgrace he is.Stewie deserves far better than that and i hope he goes on to enjoy his football at needham.Michael served Bury superbly over the years and now he has the chance to kick on and further his football career.well done stewie

When you go back & read my thread of 21 OCT. identifying Stewie's possible departure subsequently confirmed & all the messages of good will for his future from fans , management & all at the club, all well deserved for his past efforts. His method of leaving, if all statements in the public domain are to be believed & there is no reason to doubt them, really was a saga of sad deceit. Russ, Wilkie & the players particularly really must have felt it worse, knowing how they were struggling for fit bodies just to raise a team week on week, to be let down in such a manner really is despicable. To have Stewie declared on board at Needham on 3 NOV. shows things must have been well under way!!!? I was at Needham on Saturday, never heard anyone shouting Judas, but certainly shouted twice to the effect, "are you enjoying your rest" & after substitution "Is this your idea of having a rest" & if he gets away that lightly I think it's a pretty easy let off. Sometimes adversity makes people rise to great things & by heaven our lads have done that over the last couple of weeks, WELL DONE YOU BLUE BOYS good luck tomorrow at Hendon

I think some of the critisicm of Michael Steward is very harsh he was a loyal servant of Bury for a number of years and never let us down and was allways Mr Reliable when called upon. It is dissapointing that his reasons dont appear to be as originally first thought but if he wants to go and play with a few old mates of his at needham then I can totally understand that as it may help with his enjoyment of it.
Personally I was never his biggest fan anyway he was a controlled player who was never Mr risk taker on the pitch ( for example kicking the ball in a forward direction was allways a concept I never felt he got to grips with )and think he would probably have been left behind as the squad got stronger anyway. Sad to see him go but dont think he'll be a great miss and am looking forward to seeing who Bury bring in over the next few weeks to strengthen. Michael who??!!

WOW! Poor old stewie. Those it really matter who he .s opted to play for. It wasn't to long ago he was going to be put forward for a knighthood. Stop worrying about who.s left the club just put some good suggestions in for improving the squad I'm sure you scouts out there no a few good players who want to earn a fiver or two to put the bury shirt on . Stewie done his shift. Please remember he has total respect from all the youth players past and present who have and still benefit from his active role as ambassador of football legeeeeend...

I think we're done and dusted on this now.
The squad had a real buzz about them on Saturday and that showed on the pitch and afterwards as well. Tonight we need to carry that on and again over the next few games when we've got some long trips and tough games.
We are still working very hard behind the scenes to bring a in new face or two but until we manage that, lets all get behind the lads again.

My god anyone would think Stewie is some sort of football mercenary the was he is being criticised here. For whatever reason he has decided to call it a day for Bury Town, and as Seimus has pointed out he has put his shift in. I always thought he was a bit of an unsung hero in the team and in my opinion was always consistent in his performance & effort. He has not gone away criticising the club so please respect a players decision to move on

the Tick obviously can't or doesn't read. See Russells comment also dated 9 Nov. a few hours before. Leave it! It is not what you do in life it's the way that you do it!
