I must admit it is very interesting reading the recent comments on here and how it appears that BTFC is perhaps on the decline. However without wishing to alienate anyone, I will try to address the issues and comments that have appeared on here and hope that afterwards our supporters will understand why we do things in the way we do.
Stewey contacted me on Monday evening saying that he wasn't enjoying his football and felt it best he left for another challenge. I have nothing but complete respect for Michael and the service he has given us and fully understand his reasons and he leaves with our best wishes.
Andy Gould has for several years provided us and West Suffolk College with the cream of young talent in the area and although lately he felt a need for something different, I met with him last Monday when he said his heart with always be with Bury and despite being offered a position with Needham he wouldn't be taking it. Subsequently he has apparently taken the position but these things happen not only in football but generally so we have to accept that and move on. We all wish Andy all the best for the future.
As far as reporting changes, we have always had a relationship with the Bury Free Press that allows them the chance to report first on BTFC matters, however following what I feel to be an innacurate and damaging story in last weeks edition, I have refused to pass on information to them until an apology is printed.
Whilst our supporters might feel information is being kept from them, Stewey is still a contracted player until his contract is cancelled and Andy Gould has not officially told me he has gone to Needham so any reports on either count were premature and although both are now correct, it would have not have been correct to announce either until I was in possesion of the full facts.
Hopefully that explains a few things and I will take all your comments on board for the future.

Hi Russ,
Thanks for trying to clarify things. i think maybe people are looking at this little spell of 'not quite so good' football & results and the departures, and linking the two together to come up with an overall feeling of decline. My view is the football is suffering due to the injuries we have and perhaps a change in playing style to accommodate Scowcroft, and the departures are unrelated to it
As far as the Free Press is concerned the problem is having to wait until Friday for any news to come out. In the case of Andy Gould Needham certainly didnt wait for them as they posted it on their website on the 17th (Sun) . In my view the Free Press are more interested in Needham Market than Bury Town in any case, even though it is the 'Bury' Free Press. Id like to see the website used much more as a tool for the club to engage with its supporters with news, etc. and let the Free Press decide themselves if they want to support Suffolk's Premier football team that happens to be on their doorstep
By the way, I agree it was disgraceful reporting the way they linked that story to BTFC, there was no relevance to it whatsoever

Having not seen the article being mentioned I can't comment on that but I will add that over the years I have always felt that the BFP has been a reluctant partner when it comes to Bury Town FC. Mind you the paper as a whole struggles to report on most things that happen in Bury anyway and more often than not either fail to report on events at all or if they do it's two weeks after the fact. Of course the other problem is that it's a weekly paper and things can change daily thus invalidating information which 24 hours earlier may have been correct.
I will however agree that the website could be better utilised by the club. I probably notice this more as I am 250 miles away and the only information I can get comes from here. We must remember though that the website and forum are not run by a professional company employed by the club. It is run by fans in the same way that I admin the Facebook page and Twitter feed and is therefore subject to life in general. We're not paid or endorsed by the club and do it through our wish to help the club in whatever way we can.
It might be something that can be addressed and maybe it's time to think more about the website as the primary voice of Bury Town Football Club. It might mean that a few more people need to get involved to help ensure content is up to date as well as increasing the information available and the depth of information.
The web can help generate revenue as well and this could also be investigated. There's plenty that can be done but it will need some dedicated people to get involved.

Statement from TC following a number of comments on here recently.
Whilst Stewie had informed the management of his decision early in the week, his contract cancellation was not completed until the last day or so and therefore it was felt that it was in the best interest of Stewie and the football club that nothing was officially was announced until that time. However, we were beaten to it. This is also no different than if we were on the verge of signing a player, where nothing would be officially announced until the paperwork had been completed. That aside, we are all sorry to see Stewie go as he has been a massive part in the rise of Bury Town FC. We fully respect his decision and we all wish him well wherever he goes. Whereas we were fortunate last season not to suffer a lot of injuries, we have been unfortunate this season and we are fully aware of the need to add some additional strength to the squad wherever we can. The management team have been extremely busy over the last few days in trying to bring one or two players in and we are hopeful that we can achieve this very soon. Callum Kearns has today had the operation on his torn cartilage and we are awaiting a full report from the specialist as to the extent of the damage and how long he is likely to be out. I would also like to remind everyone that we are playing at a much better level than last season and a number of our players are still acclimatising to level 3. It was never going to be easy and everybody is still finding their feet so please be patient. At this time of change, I would like to ask all of the fantastic supporters of Bury Town to get behind the team and the management. Last season you were invaluable as our "12th Man" and if you get behind the team and sing your hearts out, they will respond and you will enjoy the game even more. See you tomorrow Trevor Collins Director of Football

Well said essexblues, with all the best will in the world it's not easy to keep a web site fully up to date, not without someone willing to give up 10-20 hrs of there free time a week to do it.
Sorry to see you go Stewie but good luck to ya & thanks for all you've done for the club.

It really is quite incredible how people jump in to misread/ misquote/ misrepresent the written word. essexblues seems the classic case of going off cock without engaging brain. His reply to my thread (#5) only seems to need a four word reply "I rest my case" & refer to other threads that confirm my recorded concerns that we, the fans, are kept in the dark about important activities that are occurring within the Club which are never or rarely reported. At no time was any slur infurred on the capabilities, abilities, enthusiasm of everyone involved in all aspects of Club activities, both on & off the field. The question I asked was where has the passion gone, noticably absent on the pitch for the last two months. If this is interpreted as decline then that is someone elses interpretation, not mine. I want us to go from strength to strength & will be there shouting louder than most, but I do not believe in wearing rose tinted glasses rather than face a problem that needs addressing. essexblues will be pleased to hear me agree with his adoption of the title SIR RUSS ( it won't cost him a free cup of tea either ) He & his team rate my total support, people like them don't fall off trees! I know from personnal experience of clubs & committees

This forum is for supporters to air their views ,opinions , concerns etc. about Bury Town FC . If someone has an opinion on something i think it's good to voice that and then debate it. Nobody was being criticised, a supporter has just aired an opinion about something . I wouldn't class that as whinging.Surely we all have opinions.

See you tomorrow Trevor Collins Director of Football I totally agree. The team and the club need us to be strong and united, now more than ever. I personally could not give a monkeys about any of the cup competitions this season. For me it's all about the league. We are currently sitting in 5th place, four points off the leaders, which is a great start. Now with all the injuries we have, we must pull together, be patient and support our boys in blue. They won't let us down if they know we are there for them. COME ON YOU BLUE BOYS!!

Back pages of the BFP this week illustrate my point entirely. We win in the FA Trophy & have an article on the inside page (by BW, did a BFP reporter even go to the game). Needham get the back page & another article on their game that they LOST inside!
Totally agree with jjohn we have to get behind the team now. For my part I dont think there was any criticism of anyone involved with the club as they all do a stirling job, merely an observation on the website and the BFP

I would also like to point out that my thread which I put on was no critisicm of anyone at the club I just feel the website is something that the club comes nowhere near to being as good with as other clubs in and around our level and also clubs local to ourselves i.e Needham, afc sudbury and Lowestoft as anybody who has seen their websites in comparison to ours will disagree with and I stand by that viewpoint.
I dont agree with the thread that says our performances have not been very good and lacked passion as I would never come on here and accuse our management or players of such a thing and believe that we have the resources and squad to really compete at this level and perhaps be a suprise package.

Exactly as i saw it, so why do i get the impression some people seem to think that those who make these observations are not 100% behind the club.I'm sure supporters views and input are welcomed by the club officials, just as i'm sure everyone is behind the team in both league and cup.
